What an inspiring group of women. I found myself last Wednesday at the State Room in Boston, listening to the most amazing women that pride themselves on helping teen girls amplify their voices through their magazine,
TEEN VOICES. At one point in the night, a group of high school girls went up on stage and rapped about the importance of women independance and how they can do anything they put their minds to. They had such a presence on stage that they received a standing ovation when they were done! I was so happy to photograph such an important night. Here is a little more on this powerful non-profit:
Founded in 1988 by two young adult women who believed in the power of girls to create social change through writing and art, Teen Voices is a local program with an international impact. In Boston, Teen Voices primarily works with low-income girls of color to develop critical thinking, writing and communication, and leadership skills necessary for academic, personal, and professional success. Worldwide, girls from diverse backgrounds submit their writing for possible publication. Our goal is to encourage teen girls around the world to use their skills to speak out on issues, create positive and powerful media, and lead change in their communities. Here is the
ALBUM I made of the affair!
